Dear friend:

Welcome to the "Godless Americans March on Washington" web site!

November 2, 2002 will be a historic day for Atheists, Freethinkers and other "persons of no religion" in America. We hope to rally many of the 30,000,000 citizens who, according to the ARIS survey, profess no religious beliefs -- on the Mall, in Washington, DC. We go by many labels, and we don't always agree on what organizations to join (or whether to join at all!), or what our collective focus should be.

But as "Godless Americans," we share common interests!

That's why the March on Washington is being organized. Just about every other political or social "cause" group, from women and African Americans to the Promise Keepers, has taken a stand there, on the Mall, in our nation's capital. They've demanded "a place at the table," a role in public policy decision making, a voice in the great discussion called democracy. This march is for us -- not the religious folks who happen to agree with us, on some occasions, with the idea of church-state separation. This is about our rights as Godless Americans!

Now, it's our turn.

I am happy to chair the GODLESS AMERICANS MARCH ON WASHINGTON Task Force. We will be inviting representatives from national, regional and local Atheist, Freethought and other like-minded groups to speak at our rally, and participate in this historic event. In addition, we ask as many of you -- "Godless Americans" -- to join us on the Mall on Saturday, November 2, 2002.

Here at our web site, you'll find information you need about the March and related events -- travel and tourism resources, an FAQ and much more. Whether you can make it to Washington or not (and we hope that you DO attend!), we also hope that you ENDORSE THE GODLESS AMERICANS MARCH ON WASHINGTON. Also, we encourage you to visit our LIST OF ENDORSING ORGANIZATIONS which will grow in coming weeks. If you are an officer of an Atheist, Freethought or like-minded group, expect a letter shortly from the Task Force soliciting your involvement with the March on Washington, or contact me by filling out this form.
